A Tent for One

Twenty days before our wedding, my fiancé's friends invited us on a camping trip in the mountains.

When we arrived at the site, they announced we would draw lots for the tents.

I drew a single sleeping pad.

My fiancé, Arthur, and his childhood best friend, Mia, drew the only two-person tent.

I looked at Arthur, but he just brushed it off. "Don't take it personally. It's just a random draw. I'll make it up to you next time."
