The panic in her voice was so raw it made the hairs on my arms stand up.
"Someone’s trying to force their way in! Nora, please, God, help me!"
My heart slammed against my ribs. I was in the middle of closing a three-month enterprise contract—the single biggest deal of my career—but I didn't hesitate. I dropped the paperwork on the conference table, ignored my director’s furious glare, dialed 911, and sprinted out of the building.
I gave the dispatcher the address Tori had frantically texted me, my breath hitching as I drove through red lights to meet the squad car at the building.
