I asked Virginia for a divorce while she was on her phone, soothing her heartbroken first love.
She didn’t even look up from her screen. "Hell must have frozen over. You’re asking for a divorce?"
In our five years of marriage, Virginia was always the one to throw the word "divorce" around whenever we fought. And every single time, she would wait for me to bend, to apologize, to coax her back.
"What’s your reason?" she asked.
I pointed at her phone, where the screen was overflowing with comforting messages to Jordan. "Is that not reason enough?"
