Summer gasped, her hand freezing in mid-air as she made a show of trying to slide it off. But before she could, Christian spoke up.
"It’s fine. Caroline doesn't mind."
Summer let out a bright, easy laugh. "Honestly, Christian, only you could pull a stunt like this on such a big night."
I watched them giggle and banter, the warmth of the restaurant fading into a cold, sharp clarity.
