My family spent years convincing me I had early-onset amnesia.
Mom would pull a skillet of garlic-butter roasted salmon and asparagus from the oven, setting exactly three placemats at the dining table, before turning to me with a furrowed brow.
"Didn't you say you were grabbing dinner with coworkers tonight? Did you forget again, Willa?"
When they went to the cinema on weekends, there was never a ticket reserved for me. Alyssa, my younger sister, would sigh with practiced sympathy.
"Willa, you literally told me you get migraines in crowded theaters. Did that slip your mind too?"
