Five years ago, when the original developer went bankrupt and abandoned the project, I emptied my savings to buy out every deeded parking space in our underground garage.
Over the five years that followed, local real estate surged and the commercial value of those spots increased tenfold. Yet I never charged my neighbors a single cent.
My only unwritten condition was simple: the sheltered, oversized bay tucked right beside the elevator vestibule belonged to me. Nobody touched it.
Until tonight.
