My Border Collie blocked the door and refused to move. Everyone said I was crazy when I packed my bags to flee a thousand miles that same night. My husband threatened divorce. My family called me delusional. I watched my dog trembling, staring northwest with pure terror in his eyes, and I knew: we had hours, maybe less. I ran. By morning, they would understand. But too late.
