Leonard was the youngest senior partner at his accounting firm, the kind of CPA who could track a single missing cent across fifty thousand ledger pages.
He used to say it was an obsession he was born with—that owing someone ten cents, or having someone owe him ten cents, would keep him awake all night.
In the four years we dated, he built a shared digital ledger exclusively for the two of us.
If we used his member discount on movie tickets, the seven-dollar savings had to be split down the middle. If a dinner came out to two hundred and sixty dollars, my share was one hundred and seventy.
