The day Mom's 17th love letter is listed on eBay, Dad, who is usually calm and easygoing, completely loses his temper.
He calls Mom three times in a row.
"I just gave you ten thousand dollars for the last love letter. How have you already spent it all?
"How many times do I have to repeat myself? Wendy just came back from ten years in the future. She's emotionally unstable. If something happens to her because of all this nonsense, I'm going to hold you accountable!"
As Dad rages over the phone, I hold up my fingers and do the math.
