I gave up my spot at the Vienna Conservatory just to stay behind and help Adrian practice.
In the ten years since, he went from an obscure, struggling street musician to a world-renowned virtuoso. For every single one of his concerts, I sat in the very front row. He promised me that once this tour ended, he would dedicate the encore—a piece called "Homeward"—to me.
It was the first piece I had ever written for him.
But at the final stop of the tour, he changed the program at the last minute. Next to "Homeward" on the credits, there was a new name.
