The Mermaid Tail She Drowned In

My boyfriend and my best friend told me they were going to cure my aquaphobia. For my birthday, they bought me a custom silicone mermaid tail.

"Put it on and you're a mermaid, Izzy. How can a mermaid be afraid of water?"

Amanda smiled warmly as she helped me slide into the tight silicone tail. She zipped it up to my waist, binding my legs together completely.

Before I could even process what was happening, Charlie shoved me into the six-foot-deep end of the pool.

The silicone tail flooded instantly, dragging me down like a block of concrete.
