It happened on Parents' Day, when 47 students across the school suddenly came down with food poisoning.
By the time the paramedics arrived, I was already in shock. One of them checked me, put a red critical-care wristband around my wrist, and started taking me toward the first ambulance.
That was when my dad—the school principal—stopped them in front of hundreds of parents.
"She's my daughter, so she goes last," he said. "I don't want anyone saying I gave her special treatment."
