Turns Out She Was Never Mine

My girlfriend, Eloise Harper, sought efficiency in everything. She could barely tolerate anything she considered a waste of time.

She decided that our wedding ceremony rehearsal was a waste of time and canceled it.

When she found a long line forming at City Hall for marriage registration, she spun on her heel and left at once.

On Valentine’s Day, I reserved a table for the two of us at a private restaurant known only to a few people.

I arrived early at her company to pick her up. But I accidentally overheard her colleagues gossiping.
