After I got married, my wife and I always slept in separate rooms.
At first, I asked her if she could move into the master bedroom.
She refused me without hesitation.
"No need. Caleb would mind."
"If it weren't for you back then, we wouldn't have ended up like this. Let's just leave it this way."
Caleb was her first love.
I froze in place and, after a long while, finally said okay.
Later, I thought that this marriage was only there to help my family get through a cash flow crisis and, by the way, solve the thorny lawsuit her company was dealing with.
