Accused Of Being A Gold Digger

CH. 01

Chapter 1

14,825 words

I returned to the country to study. The moment I stepped onto campus, I was surrounded by a group of people.

The girl leading them was incredibly arrogant. Everyone around her fawned over her, calling her "Miss Gaston".

She stared intently at the bag I was carrying and scoffed aloud. "So you're the girl who seduced my brother and stole the bag I ordered?"

Her sidekicks immediately chimed in and jeered.

"Gold diggers nowadays will do anything for money!"

"Not only are you leeching off the Gaston family, you even dare to steal from Nina! Do you know who she is? She's the young lady of the Gaston family!"

"Hand over the bag and apologize to Nina right now or we'll teach you a lesson!"

Listening to them flatter the girl in the middle, I chuckled softly. If she's Miss Gaston, then who am I?

I took out my phone and sent a text to my brother, Henry Gaston. "When did Mom and Dad have a third child? How come I didn't know I had a sister?"

Chapter 1

Henry's reply came back instantly. "Did the culture shock make you dumb? Mom and Dad only have two kids: you and I. There's no third child."

After reading the reply, I glanced at the girl before me.

Although her makeup was meticulously done, she didn't resemble anyone in our family.

I had a hunch, but I still texted Henry to ask. "If we have no younger sister, then how come there's a 'Miss Gaston' confronting me with her lackeys?"

The chat showed that my brother was "typing..." for a long time, then a few long paragraphs of text came pouring in.

"Miss Gaston? Don't tell me you ran into Nina Ferrell? I'm so fed up with her. She keeps telling everyone at school that she's my sister. Mom and Dad sponsored her for a few years out of kindness, and she thinks she's part of the Gaston family now!

"It's Mom's fault, her heart is too soft. Whenever Nina cries and plays the victim, Mom lets her get away with anything. She said Nina has had a rough life. Because of that, Nina keeps telling people she's a Gaston and uses that to her advantage to gain benefits.

"You don't have to show her any respect! If she acts up, just yell at her! That's what I did!"

I knew Mom and Dad sponsored a student from a disadvantaged background.

At the time, I was abroad with Grandpa and Grandma.

Meanwhile, Henry was always traveling and was rarely home.

We were worried Mom and Dad would feel lonely, so we weren't against it, thinking it would be good for them to have some company.

Surely, even if that poor student wasn't grateful, she'd at least be well-behaved and sensible, right? Yet, she was actually using the Gaston name to throw her weight around outside.

Looking at my brother's complaints, I could tell that he had been unhappy with Nina for a long time.

The thought of my brother, the young master of the Gaston family, losing to a poor sponsored student amused me a little.

Nina, seeing me focused on my phone, immediately became irritated.

She signaled to one of her followers, who instantly understood and tried to slap me.

I stepped back to dodge the slap and raised an eyebrow at Nina. "So impatient. Why don't you check your phone first?"

Before Nina could say anything, the phone in her pocket rang.

One look at the screen and her face instantly froze.

Her expression changed several times. Finally, she put on a confident smile. She answered the call and spoke first.

"Brother, your girlfriend is such a terrible person. She's so disrespectful to me. Who knows what kind of trouble she'll cause in the future! Did you call me because she made up lies about me?"

Her words earned an angry response from my brother.

"What kind of nonsense are you saying? Do you know who Jenny is?! Apologize to her right now!"

Nina didn't expect my brother to yell at her after hearing her twisted version of the story. She immediately sounded even more aggrieved.

"I'm doing this for your own good, Henry. She's a gold digger, how can you not see that? No matter how rich our family is, we shouldn't let a gold digger like her squander it!

"You should make her apologize to me instead and also make her return the bag to me! Otherwise, I'll complain to Mom and never talk to you again!"

Chapter 2

In the past, whenever Nina and Henry had an argument, Nina would go crying to Mom, playing the victim, and Henry would be forced to back down and apologize.

Therefore, she was certain that Henry would also give in this time if she threatened him with Mom.

Henry couldn't contain his anger. "Nina Ferrell, are you out of your mind? Go complain to Mom, I dare you. Let's see if she'll still side with you this time!"

After saying that, he angrily hung up the phone.

My brother's attitude made Nina's sidekicks hesitate. Henry was, after all, the Gaston family's official heir. Even if Nina was "Miss Gaston", they didn't want to offend the young master of the Gaston family.

Nina's eyes turned red with anger. Seeing her sidekicks cowering, she gritted her teeth and stomped her foot hard.

But in the end, she didn't cause any more trouble. She just glared at me hatefully and turned to leave.

However, I stopped her.

"Your name is Nina Ferrell? Aren't you 'Miss Gaston'? How come your family name's not Gaston?"

A flicker of panic crossed Nina's face, but she quickly composed herself.

She lifted her chin and said arrogantly, "I took my mother's family name! You wouldn't understand! My parents love each other, so they decided one child would take the father's family name and one the mother's."

Hearing that, I almost burst out laughing.

My parents indeed love each other, but I've never heard of such an arrangement.

After all, my dad's family name is Gaston, and my mom's family name is also Gaston.

Taking my dad's family name or my mom's family name would make no difference.

Nina could only tell a lie like that because my mom doesn't like making public appearances, so not many people know her name.

I suppressed my smile and deliberately put on a puzzled expression. "Really? But I remember Mrs. Gaston's original family name wasn't Ferrell. Maybe I misremembered."

When Nina heard that I seemed to know Mrs. Gaston's real maiden name, her face showed a momentary panic.

Then, she seemed to think that there was no way a gold digger like me could possibly have that kind of high society knowledge, so she regained her bravado and shot back.

"I'm a member of the Gaston family. How can I not know my mom's maiden name? You're just an outsider. Who are you to question me?

"Listen here, wench, unless I agree, you'll never step foot in the Gaston mansion!"

She seemed worried I would go complain to Henry again, so after uttering that threat, she quickly left with her group.

I didn't intend to stop her anyway.

To put it plainly, Nina was just a student from a disadvantaged background that my parents sponsored.

When I got home, I'd tell Mom what happened and let her know Nina's true colors.

Once the Gaston family withdrew its sponsorship, Nina would have nothing to do with our family anymore.

When I got home after class, Mom was still working overtime at the company. I learned from Claire, the maid, that Mom had been unusually busy with work lately.

Dad, on the other hand, had come home early. Seeing me, he waved me into his study.

"Jenny, Henry already told me. You're back for good this time, right?

"That's great! While you're attending college, you can slowly learn the ropes and gradually take over our family business! Once you can handle things on your own, I can finally retire.

"Sit down, my dear girl. Take a look at these reports first. I'll go get you some fruit."

Seeing Dad so eager to dump all his work on me, I sighed helplessly.

I had no choice but to sit down and flip through the mountain of documents on his desk.

When Dad came back with the fruit and saw me engrossed in the reports, he beamed even wider.

Chapter 3

He placed the fruit next to me and massaged my shoulders and legs.

"Jenny, dear, I know it's not easy. Here, let me feed you some fruit."

I turned my head, but before I could even take a bite, I heard the click of a camera from outside the door. I looked toward the sound and saw Nina hastily running away.

With a frown, I turned to Dad and asked, "Is Nina Ferrell living with us?"

Dad nodded and said casually.

"She said our house is close to school, so it's more convenient for her to live here. Your mom's always feeling bored at home anyway, so she agreed."

I nodded and said no more. It was Mom who decided to sponsor Nina, so it was best to discuss matters concerning her with Mom instead.

Later that evening, Mom finally came home.

Seeing me, she pulled me aside and started asking all sorts of questions to find out how I was doing.

I was overwhelmed by her barrage of questions and forgot to ask her about Nina.

It wasn't until the next day when I saw Nina at school that I remembered.

I thought after getting yelled at by Henry yesterday, Nina would tone it down a bit, but to my surprise, this time, she actually confronted me during class.

"You little wench! I knew you were after my family's money! How low can you go? Seducing my brother wasn't enough for you, now you're trying to seduce my dad too!

"At first, I thought if my brother genuinely liked you, I'd reluctantly coexist peacefully with you, but you actually went after my dad!

"If I don't teach you a lesson, I'll be letting my mom down!"

Her words caused an uproar around us. Even her sidekicks looked astonished.

"Nina, are you sure? Seducing your brother is one thing, but she actually tried to seduce Mr. Gaston too?"

"Mr. Gaston is so old. How could she..."

A malicious glint flashed in Nina's eyes, and she snorted. "That's the kind of person she is! Gold diggers like her will do anything for money! I saw her seduce Dad with my own eyes! I have proof!"

She shrieked and threw out a stack of photos.

I glanced at them and saw that they were pictures of Dad feeding me fruit yesterday.

Her angle was cleverly chosen, making it look as if I was sitting on Dad's lap.

After the others saw the pictures, they looked at me with disdain in their eyes.

"Oh my goodness, she's gone crazy for money. She's using her body to do such despicable things. After seducing Henry, she's now seducing Mr. Gaston."

"Does she really think Mrs. Gaston is a pushover? If she's not careful, she might end up in jail and lose both father and son."

I frowned listening to the increasingly outrageous remarks.

I wanted to reveal my identity, but to my surprise, while I was lost in thought, Nina rushed over and slapped me!

I had never suffered this kind of indignity in my life.

I didn't bother explaining anymore. Anger surged within me, and I rushed forward, pushing Nina down.

Her sidekicks immediately tried to pin me down, but I grew up taking care of myself abroad, so I would never let these girls bully me.

Ignoring the blows I received, I grabbed Nina by the collar and fought back.

Seeing the chaotic situation, the lecturer on stage instantly contacted the counselor, James Hale.

James rushed over and tried to dissuade us, but it was no use. He could only call my mom.

As soon as the call connected, the bruised and swollen Nina wailed with a choked voice, "Mom, hurry up and come here! I caught Dad's mistress!"

Chapter 4

Mom naturally didn't believe Dad would cheat, but hearing James briefly explain that Nina was fighting with another girl at the campus, she still rushed over at once.

Nina and I were finally pulled apart by our classmates after a while.

James stepped forward with a frown and asked what happened.

Nina, full of grievances, immediately started complaining.

"Mr. Hale, I didn't want to fight her, but she's so vile that I couldn't hold back! You would get angry too if the mistress who destroyed your family flaunted herself in front of you!"

She casually picked up a photo from the ground and handed it to James.

After looking at the photo, James frowned. He turned to me and was about to admonish me when I coldly spoke up. "Why don't you check my enrollment information first?"

James, though doubtful, grabbed his phone.

After pulling up my student information and taking a look at it, his eyes widened in disbelief.

He looked back and forth between his phone and Nina. Then, his expression turned cold.

"What the heck are you doing?! You're maliciously slandering another student without knowing the truth! This is a crime, do you understand?!"

Nina didn't expect James to suddenly turn on her. She looked at him in disbelief.

"What are you talking about? You must be mistaken.

"She ruined my family, yet you're accusing me of maliciously slandering her? I saw her seduce my dad with my own eyes! That's the truth!

"Did she blackmail you or bribe you? Are you scared of offending her because you know she's entangled with my dad?"

After seeing my enrollment information, James naturally knew I wasn't a mistress, but the real daughter of my father, Lewis Gaston.

Previously, he thought the reason the family background written in Nina's enrollment information was different from her claim that she was Lewis Gaston's daughter was because of some typical wealthy family shenanigans.

But now that he saw me, he immediately figured out the truth.

This was clearly a case of the fraud encountering the real deal!

Nina, the fake heiress, had crossed paths with the real Miss Gaston!

But Nina was oblivious to this and continued to argue.

"Remember, I'm Lewis Gaston's daughter, and you're just an insignificant counselor!

"What good does it do you to protect her? Do you really think my dad would get into a conflict with my mom over her?

"I'm telling you, once my dad dumps her, you'll lose your job too! My mom will deal with you when she gets here!"

James was enraged by her threats. He wanted to correct her, but didn't even know where to start.

However, Nina thought James's momentary silence was a sign of yielding.

Feeling triumphant, she called her sidekicks over for another round against me.

Just as Nina and her sidekicks were trying to surround me again, my mom rushed in with a group of people.

Nina was still a little wary of James at first, but the moment she saw my mom, her fear dissipated. She rushed into my mom's arms and immediately started complaining.

"Mom, that girl seduced my brother, stole my bag, and now she's trying to seduce Dad too!"

Mom, following the direction Nina pointed, saw me surrounded by Nina's minions. Her eyes widened in disbelief.

However, Nina was too busy complaining to notice. She grabbed a photo from the table and smugly presented it to my mom.

"Mom, look! I saw her sitting on Dad's lap while he's feeding her fruit! She's trying to ruin our family! You must teach her a lesson!"

Her string of nonsense made even my usually good-tempered mom uncharacteristically angry.

She pushed Nina away and snapped, "Nina, what are you talking about? She's my daughter!"
