After They Gaslit Me Into A Asylum
CH. 01
Chapter 1
I had spent the last month at a private hospice care center, sleeping by my terminally ill mother’s bedside.
I was dying to get back home. I couldn’t wait to surprise my five-year-old daughter, Lily, at our suburban mansion.
But the moment I pushed the front door open, my mother-in-law, Beatrice Carter, looked at me and frowned.
"Olivia? Isn't it the weekend? Why are you back here tutoring so early?"
Her words hit me like a physical blow. I froze. I am Georgina. Since when did I become Olivia, our daughter’s college-student tutor?
Before I could process this, my husband Anthony came downstairs, holding Lily in his arms.
I rushed toward him like a drowning woman grabbing a lifeline, waiting for him to laugh and end this sick joke.
Instead, Anthony gently pulled Lily back, shielding her from me. He looked at me with a soft, patronizing scold.
"Olivia, we’ve talked about this. Please stop touching my wife’s personal belongings. Why are you wearing Georgina’s slippers again?"
My eyes followed his gaze.
There, walking out of the kitchen, was the real tutor—Olivia Bennett. She was wearing my silk pajamas, holding a warm cup of tea.
My daughter, Lily, ran to her, wrapping her arms around her legs. "Mommy!" she chirped.
Horror washed over me in waves. Anthony walked up to me and patted my shoulder with a sigh of pity.
"Olivia, I get it. You come from a poor background, and you want a shortcut in life."
"But Georgina is the love of my life. Stop playing this pathetic imitation game. You don't need to come in for tutoring tomorrow. You're fired."
