I Turned My Wife's Guy Bestie Female

CH. 01

Chapter 1

16,642 words

During our beach vacation, my wife, Carla Locke, lets her guy best friend, Alex Dugan, rub sunscreen all over her.

"What have you been eating lately? Feels like you've gone up a cup size."

The moment I see Alex's hand lingering on Carla's chest, the drink slips from my hand and shatters on the ground.

Carla gets upset and tells me off for being so insecure. "We're just messing around. Why do you always overthink everything?"

Alex shoots me a challenging look. "Don't be upset, Hubert. Carla and I are just friends. Sometimes, I wish I'd been born a woman. Then, people wouldn't keep misunderstanding our relationship."

Carla leans into his embrace and shakes her head as she looks at me. "I wish you'd stop being so sensitive about this. Stop trying to ruin our friendship."

However, Carla and Alex don't know that I'm from another world. After completing my mission in the previous world, the system rewards me with one wish.

Since they insist they're just best friends, I'll be more than happy to grant his wish to become a woman.

Chapter 1

"I wish to fulfill Alex Dugan's desire to become a woman!"

The system responded almost immediately. "Since the wish involves altering the human body, the gender change will take seven days."

In other words, Alex Dugan would become a woman seven days later. I had to bite back my laughter.

Alex remained completely unaware of my wish. He reached out and wrapped an arm around Carla Locke's waist.

He pulled her close and laughed heartily. Their bodies were pressed tightly together. "Amber should be almost done grilling the food, right? Come on. I'm starving."

Carla snuggled against Alex. Her eyes sparkled as she gazed at him. They looked so close, as if they were the ones who were actually married.

Even though I had seen this countless times, I felt a sting in my eyes.

During the blue hour, Carla's friends sat in a circle on the beach. I was about to join them, but Alex immediately claimed the spot next to her. He turned to me with a smug look.

Before I could even say a word, she immediately defended him. "He just wants to sit next to me. Why are you making such a big deal about it?"

I remained expressionless and found another spot to sit.

Carla looked a little embarrassed when I didn't react, but it wasn't long before Alex's nonstop chatter caught her attention again.

Several plates of barbecued food were brought over. Carla immediately handed me a skewer of grilled shrimp and said, "Here's your favorite seafood. Don't be mad anymore."

I was momentarily surprised, but I still reached out and took it from her.

Seeing that, Alex immediately leaned into her arms and whined. "Carla, don't forget about your friends just because you're married. I'm hungry."

Carla looked at him fondly and quickly handed him the chicken wing she was holding. "How could I ever forget about you? You're my bestie. Here you go. Open up."

The ridiculous scene had everyone cracking up.

I pressed my lips together and stared blankly at the grilled shrimp. I finally showed a hint of emotion when Stephanie Fox offered to trade her grilled squid for my shrimp.

Stephanie was practically a stranger, yet she could tell I didn't like shrimp. And Carla, the woman I had been with for four years, had no idea.

Maybe all those years together had meant nothing to her after all.

After dinner, everyone was bored, so they decided to play a game of "Never Have I Ever". For the first few rounds, they simply brought up stuff they had done at work or in their everyday lives.

When it was Alex's turn, he flashed me a sly grin and met my gaze without flinching. "I've seen a video of Carla and Hubert in bed together."

The lively atmosphere instantly fell silent at his words.

My head started ringing as I stared at Carla in disbelief. However, all she did was give a helpless laugh and slap Alex on the butt. "Why are you bringing that up now?"

Amber Porter quickly tried to smooth things over. "It's just a video of Hubert drying Carla's hair in bed, right? Everyone's seen it, haven't they? Drink up!"

"That's not true!"

Alex suddenly rose to his feet, looking at me with contempt. "But when Hubert's in bed… Well, I wouldn't say he can't do it. He's just not compatible with Carla. She's really had it rough all these years…"

Carla shoved a skewer into his mouth. "Be quiet. We agreed to keep it between us. Why are you telling everyone now?"

Alex pursed his lips. "So what? That's what makes this game fun."

He then looked at me and said with a grin, "Hubert's a good sport, isn't he? I'm sure he won't care about something like this.

"Besides, it's not like I haven't seen something way more interesting. If you keep trying to stop me, I'll just tell everyone everything! By the way…"

He wrapped an arm around Carla's waist and whispered in her ear, "I'm pretty good myself, if you know what I mean. Carla, if you ever want to try…"

My ears started ringing, and my mind had gone completely blank. By the time I realized what I was doing, I had already swung the beer bottle at his head.

Chapter 2

The beer bottle shattered on Carla's back, sending shards of glass flying everywhere. Even in that critical moment, she didn't hesitate to step in front of Alex.

My eyes grew slightly red, but she didn't seem to notice. Instead, she glared at me.

"Hubert Hewitt, I've put up with your behavior for too long, haven't I? I was nice enough to introduce you to all my best friends, and you can't even take a joke?

"You had to ruin everything! If we weren't married, I would've called the cops on you. You deserve to be locked up for a few days so you can think about what you've done."

Alex wore a triumphant look and chuckled. "Carla, I told you from the start that your husband was no good. You should've taken my advice. Now you're learning the hard way.

"Come on. Let's go have some fun. We'll leave Hubert here to think about what he's done."

Carla gave me a warning look before walking away with Alex, reassuring him as they went.

The sea breeze was a little chilly, but it did nothing to extinguish the anger burning inside me.

Carla's friends exchanged glances but said nothing. One by one, they found excuses to slip away.

I was left sitting alone on the beach, staring out at the shoreline in a daze.

For the past four years, I had always believed Carla was the perfect wife. She remembered every special occasion and would always make my gifts by hand.

She gave me my first bouquet of flowers, saying that even a man deserved to have pretty flowers. I would casually mention wanting to try a restaurant, and she would drive me there the next day.

Both our parents had already met and approved of our relationship. Carla and I had even gotten legally married earlier, with our wedding ceremony set for next month.

However, whenever Alex was involved, none of that seemed to matter. When he came back from abroad, she secretly drove out in the middle of the night to pick him up from the airport.

Every day, Carla would pack lunch for me and do the same for him too. Thinking back, his lunch was always better than mine.

She had never missed a single one of our weekly candlelight dinners, yet one call from Alex was all it took for her to drop me without a second thought.

Whenever I got upset, she would say, "Alex's my best friend. I've always thought of him as a woman.

"How could I ever get with him? Stop assuming something's going on between us."

Since Carla and Alex were best friends, I figured their bond would only grow stronger once he became a woman.

I let out a chuckle when someone suddenly held out a roll of gauze. "You hurt your hand. Let me patch you up."

It was only then that I realized my right hand was covered in cuts from the shattered beer bottle. The wounds were still bleeding.

Seeing that I hadn't moved, Stephanie simply reached for my hand, lowered her gaze, and carefully bandaged my wound.

I thanked her for helping me. To my surprise, she didn't leave. She casually picked up a beer bottle and took a swig.

We sat on the beach together all night until the most beautiful sunrise I had ever seen spread across the horizon.

I took a photo and posted it on Instagram. "To a new beginning."

Stephanie and I took a taxi back to the hotel. The moment I went upstairs, I happened to run into Carla walking out of Alex's room. Her clothes were disheveled.

Her expression shifted when she saw me. Just as she was about to explain herself, Alex popped out from behind her.

It was already morning. Just as the system had promised, Alex was starting to develop several feminine features. His Adam's apple had shrunk a lot, and his features had taken on a certain softness.

Alex seemed oblivious to these changes. He casually wrapped an arm around Carla's waist. "Hubert, you're a lucky man, aren't you? Carla has the best figure I've ever seen."

"Stop talking nonsense!" Carla immediately shoved his hand away and quickly walked over to me.

"Hubert, don't get it wrong. We were just gossiping all night."

I lowered my gaze and caught her absently fidgeting with her pants. It was one of her tells. That meant she was clearly lying.

Chapter 3

Instead, I shot Alex a grin. "It's fine. You'll have a great figure soon enough."

Alex frowned, confused by what I meant.

I turned away and pulled out my key card to open the door. Carla then squeezed past me and slipped inside the room.

She tugged the hem of my shirt and said softly, "You were too reckless yesterday, but I was in the wrong too… Let's call it even, shall we? Don't be mad at me anymore."

I nodded indifferently. Seeing that, she finally smiled.

"There's a Ferris wheel nearby, right? You kept saying you want to check it out. Let's go together this afternoon."

I was momentarily taken aback.

Before our vacation, I came across a post saying that if a couple kissed at the highest point on a Ferris wheel, they would be together forever.

I kept telling Carla we should go, but she said it was childish for a grown man like me to bring something like that up.

Just then, Alex's voice drifted over from outside the door. "Carla, what should I wear this afternoon? Help me pick something."

He pushed open the door, holding several shirts.

That explained everything. I immediately understood what was going on.

Carla's eyes lit up at the sight of him. She quickly pointed at one of the shirts and said, "You should wear this. I'm wearing purple too. We’ll have matching bestie outfits!"

Alex quickly nodded. "You have great taste, Carla!"

More like they wanted to dress like a couple!

I felt a little sick to my stomach and said coldly, "I'm not feeling well. I'll pass this afternoon."

Alex immediately rolled his eyes. "You really like to ruin things, don't you? Carla's really unlucky to have married a guy like you."

Hearing that, Carla visibly relaxed and simply told me to get some rest.

I stayed in bed and slept all afternoon. When I woke up, I saw that my best friend, Justin Keller, had sent me a message.

I checked his chat and saw a screenshot from a video. A man and a woman were locked in a kiss at the highest point in the Ferris wheel.

The caption was, "From the highest point in the city, it feels like we're the only two people in this world."

I recognized those two side profiles immediately.

"Damn! Hubert, did Carla just cheat on you? Where did that boy toy come from? I'll go teach him a lesson for you!"

It wasn't until I told Justin about the system's promise to turn Alex into a woman that he finally relaxed.

…

The next day, Carla kept watching me over breakfast. Once she realized I was acting like my usual self, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

Of course, Alex was still fooling around with her. I couldn't help but snort with laughter when my gaze fell on his increasingly prominent chest.

"Oh, Alex. Your chest is almost as big as a woman's. Don't tell me being around my wife all this time is turning you into a woman!"

Alex's expression shifted. He looked down at his chest and furrowed his brows slightly.

Lately, he had realized that his chest muscles didn't seem as firm as before and had started to feel softer and flabbier.

Carla snapped at me impatiently. "Hubert, what's gotten into you today?"

Alex waved it off. "Don't get mad at Hubert because of me. Maybe I haven't been working out lately, so my muscles aren't as firm as they used to be.

"Carla, you've been wanting to take up yoga, haven't you? There's a gym at the hotel. Let me be your personal trainer this afternoon."

Carla looked at me out of the corner of her eye. "You're the best, Alex. Unlike some men, who do nothing but get jealous over everything."

I kept eating my breakfast as if I hadn't heard a single word.

I counted the days and realized there were only three days left until Alex would fully transform into a woman. I could hardly wait for the day to arrive.

Chapter 4

Over the past few days, Alex's feminine features had become more prominent. He had slimmed down a lot, and his skin looked softer than before. His Adam's apple was totally gone, and his voice had grown noticeably higher-pitched.

From afar, anyone would have mistaken him for a young woman with a slightly androgynous charm. However, Carla didn't seem to notice that at all and only grew closer to him.

I had no time to worry about them anymore. My gaze fell on the date circled in red on the calendar, and my eyes began to well up with tears.

Today marked two years since Grandma passed away. While she was alive, she had asked to have her ashes scattered at sea so she could drift wherever she wanted.

Today, I could finally fulfill her wish. I carefully pulled the ceramic urn from the bag, only to find it spotless. There wasn't even a speck of dust on it.

A bad feeling suddenly came over me, and I quickly opened the urn. It was empty, save for a note inside.

"Got you! Haha! Yours truly, Alex."

My blood seemed to run cold, and my fingertips went numb.

Just then, the door swung open. Carla walked in, reeking of alcohol, with Alex right behind her.

I immediately lunged at Alex, grabbed him by the collar, and punched him in the face.

"Where are my grandma's ashes? Give them back to me now. Otherwise, you'll pay for this!"

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, yet he still smirked at me. "Is that all it takes to piss you off? I just wanted to make a special cocktail.

"Carla said she wanted to teach you a lesson, so she let me use your grandma's ashes. Come to think of it, the drink probably didn't taste that bad. Otherwise, you wouldn't have downed it all, right?" Alex let out a laugh.

My stomach suddenly churned when I thought of the drink Carla had handed me last night, and I couldn't stop dry heaving.

"I'm going to kill you!" I kept raining punches down on his face, completely out of control.

Suddenly, I felt something shatter against my head, and I froze. Blood trickled from my temple, down to my jaw, and dripped onto the floor.

"Hubert, can't you calm down?"

I slowly turned around and saw Carla holding a vase. In that moment, something inside me died.

I thought to myself, "Grandma, I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise…"

Then, I said, "Let's get a divorce."

Carla froze for a moment. Then, she pointed at me and said, "Hubert, have you thought it through? If we get divorced, you'll walk away with nothing."

She pulled out two copies of a divorce agreement, along with a list of all the major mistakes I had made during our marriage. There were ten full pages of them. She had clearly come prepared.

Carla shoved a pen into my hand and flipped to the page where I was supposed to sign. "Hubert, your dad has a heart condition, doesn't he? If he finds out about this, you know the consequences.

"I'll give you three days. If you don't sign by then, I have other ways of handling you. By then, I won't go easy on you."

Alex looked at me triumphantly. "Hubert, if anything, it's your fault for not appreciating what you had. Well, Carla's mine now!"

The moment they left the room, Carla was practically beaming. "This is amazing! Hubert's assets are finally ours! I knew your plan would work."

Alex's eyes burned with desire as he stared at her lips, and he couldn't resist kissing her.

After all that waiting, their plan had finally paid off. Carla and Alex melted into a passionate embrace, and things quickly began heating up. As they kissed, they began tearing off their own clothes.

Carla ran her hands over Alex's chest. She roughly undid the buttons of his shirt and slipped her hand inside.

However, in the next moment, she let out a shriek. "Hold up! When did your chest get so soft? And why isn't there anything down there?"
