CH. 04
Chapter 4
I wasn't about to carry the reputation of a desperate rich girl who bought a boyfriend for a second lifetime.
I had to clear my name right then and there.
I looked Victor dead in the eye and said coldly:
"You still want my money?"
"The school has financial aid, but you're too proud to apply, expecting me to beg you to take my cash?"
"Do I look that pathetic to you?"
Seeing my serious face, Victor's confident facade began to crack.
He blustered, "I don't care if you're playing mind games or trying to blackmail me with money."
"You will never separate me from Vivian again, you wicked woman."
By now, the crowd understood. I was done being his ATM.
Besides, I had never forced Victor to do anything in my life. How could I have "stolen" him with money?
Sure, Alice used to be a simp, but times change. Who says I have to love Victor forever?
With that established, no one could throw dirt on me anymore.
"Victor, just apply for financial aid. Everyone knows your situation anyway."
"Yeah, dude. Don't demand pride and cash at the same time. Let Alice go."
"Honestly, Alice gave you so much money, and she never forced you to date her."
Hearing a few voices take my side, the sheer injustice of my past death washed over me.
I admitted I liked him. I liked his pride and aloofness, but I never forced him.
Instead, he was always cruel to me. He took my money and then insulted me for being a useless rich girl.
For him, I fought with my parents and moved into his tiny, run-down apartment.
I took care of his sick mother, did all the chores, and even paused my studies to help his career.
I was a silent giver, yet he always saw me as a monster who humiliated him with wealth.
He believed I ruined his chance with Vivian and forced him into marriage.
I used to hate that he couldn't see my devotion. But now, I only hated his hypocrisy, cowardice, and double standards.
I announced loudly, "Victor, yes, I used to chase you."
"But starting today, we are strangers. I want Mr. Harrison and everyone here to be my witness."
"And of course, you won't get another single penny from me."
Leaving a stunned Victor behind, I turned on my heel and went home.
