The Comments Said Don’t Divorce Him Yet

CH. 01

Chapter 1

3,327 words

The night before the wedding, Lucas Miller's father, Carter, and his mother, Mary, caught my husband, Lucas, in the act.

When I arrived, Lucas was pinned to the ground by Carter and Mary, beaten and covered in blood.

Seeing me, Lucas dropped to his knees in front of me.

“I couldn’t control myself, I betrayed you!”

“I’m willing to cancel the wedding tomorrow and divorce you.”

“I just beg you not to blow this up…”

I glared angrily at the man I had loved for five years, about to speak.

Suddenly, a series of bullet comments popped up before my eyes.

[Don't listen to him! He won $300 million in the lottery yesterday!]

[That $300 million is community property, half of it is yours!]

[If you divorce, you won't get a single dime!]

Half of $300 million!

I reached out and helped Lucas up from the ground.

With a pang of fake heartache, I wiped the blood from his face.

“I love you so much, how could I possibly divorce you?”

Lucas stared at me, stunned.

A flicker of disbelief crossed his eyes.

After all, I’m not one to tolerate even a speck of dirt.

Last time, he just gave a drunk female colleague a ride home.

After I found out, I argued with him for a whole week.

In the end, I still felt so stifled I wanted a divorce.

Mary cried and begged me,

and Carter kept promising that Lucas would never do it again.

That’s how I reluctantly gave him another chance.

This time, I caught him red-handed.

According to my usual personality, I would have divorced him without hesitation.

But now, I was forgiving him…

Seeing this, Carter and Mary immediately rushed towards Lucas.

Mary slapped Lucas hard across the face and burst into wails.

“You heartless man!”

“How could you do something so despicable again!”

“That time you cheated on Fiona with that colleague,”

“Carter and I went against our consciences begging Fiona to give you another chance.”

“What did you promise us back then?!”

“Why can’t you keep it in your pants and mess around outside!”

Hearing Mary’s words, my heart ached.

I instinctively let go of Lucas’s hand.

So he had betrayed me even that time!

But he had sworn to God that he and Mia were just colleagues.

He had sworn that he would only ever love me…

My lips trembled with pain, about to speak.

Lucas knelt down again.

“Fiona, I’m an asshole! I’m sorry!”

“Not only did I cheat with Mia, but I also have a child with her.”

A child!

I stared at him, stunned, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.

Lucas and I had been lovingly together for five years.

The man who would call my name in his sleep.

Not only did he cheat on me with another woman.

He even had a child!

I stepped back two paces, the words “divorce him” on the tip of my tongue.

The bullet comments scrolled again.

[Don't be impulsive! That child is Mia's with another man.]

[You can ditch the man, but you can't ditch hundreds of millions!]

[Lucas has 58 days left to cash in his lottery ticket.]

[For these 58 days, the protagonist just has to put up with a disgusting situation.]

I took a deep breath.

Forcing myself to squeeze out a smile at Lucas.

“Honey, your child is my child.”

“If you and Mia don’t mind, I’ll raise this child.”

Lucas’s face went pale.

He jumped up from the floor as if he’d seen a ghost.

He grabbed his clothes, threw them on, and ran out in a panic.
