Chapter 4

Bang!

The door closed.

Scarface’s mouth hung open as he stared at me blankly.

The skinny guy even forgot the pain of his broken leg, looking as if he had been struck by lightning.

The livestream comments once again entered an epic-level explosion.

【Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck! The Flaying Manager called him my lord?!】

【The Drowned Ghost told him to come visit often?! Is he treating an S-rank instance like a brothel?!】

【What normal person clears an instance and packs a fruit platter to go?!】

I ignored them and kept walking on my own.

However, just then.

A system alarm suddenly exploded over the entire family compound.

【Ding! Detected that a hidden storyline has been triggered!】

【Ultimate mandatory quest issued: proceed to Room 1404 on the top floor and pacify the berserk “Red-Dressed Building Manager”!】

【Warning! Death rate of this quest: 100%!】

【Countdown: two hours. Those who fail to complete it will be devoured by all the anomalies in the compound!】

Blood-red words dripped with blood in midair, radiating despair.

Scarface collapsed onto the ground, his face ashen.

“It’s over... the Red-Dressed Building Manager... that’s the unsolvable dead end in this S-rank instance!”

The skinny guy pissed his pants from fear and cried out in despair.

“I don’t want to die! I still don’t want to die!”

The female player suddenly threw herself at me and clung tightly to my leg.

“Boss! You must have a way, right? Please save me!”

“I was blind earlier, I’ll kowtow to you!”

She cried while frantically banging her head against the ground.

I pulled my leg back in disgust and glanced toward the end of the stairs.

The Red-Dressed Building Manager?

Wasn’t that the little female ghost I casually enlightened last year?

I heard she seemed to have gone through a breakup recently?

I rubbed my chin, and an amused smile tugged at the corner of my mouth.

“Fine, let’s go take a look.”

I strode toward the stairs.

Scarface gritted his teeth and limped after me.

“Fuck it, we’re dead either way, so I’ll gamble by following the boss!”

The stairs leading to the top floor were dark and cramped, and scarlet blood seeped from the walls.

The higher we climbed, the more bone-chilling the yin energy in the air became.

Even I sensed that something was wrong.

The purity of this yin energy was definitely not something a Red-Dressed Building Manager could emit.

“Heeheehee...”

A sinister, ethereal woman’s laugh came from the darkness overhead.

Immediately afterward, a human head with disheveled hair rolled down the stairs and landed beside my feet.

The head suddenly opened its pupil-less, deathly pale eyes and stared fixedly at me.

“Found you...”

I lowered my head and looked at the head by my feet, then raised an eyebrow.

Interesting.

It seemed that there was still a secret hidden in this Scarlet Family Compound that even the system did not know about.

I raised my foot and kicked the head away like a soccer ball.

“Don’t block the way.”

The head drew an arc through the air, crashed into the darkness, and let out a scream.

I had just stepped onto the floor where Room 1404 was located.

A rotten wooden door slowly swung open in front of me with a creak.

Inside the door, a pair of embroidered shoes with bright red peonies hung silently in midair.

And the owner of those embroidered shoes was staring fixedly at me with eyes filled with extreme resentment.
