After returning from St. Jude’s Cathedral, everything seemed normal. Before Ethan went on his business trip, he even clung to me, refusing to let go. "Wife, I don't want to leave you..."

After comforting him and sending him off, I secretly kept tabs on Rachel's movements.

I knew she couldn't wait any longer.

Sure enough, the next afternoon, I received a frantic call from the receptionist at Sterling Corp.

"Mrs. Sterling, Mr. Sterling is in a meeting at another company today, and we can't reach him."

"Rachel is throwing a massive tantrum in the office. Can you please come over and handle it?"

I immediately drove to the office. Before I even stepped out of the elevator, I could hear Rachel’s shrill, screeching voice.

"What do you think you guys are doing? Are you brainless? Today is Monday, the busiest day of the week!"

"Do you have any idea how much profit a two-hour lunch break costs the company?"

"What makes you think you deserve a lunch break? From now on, lunch breaks are canceled! Everyone, get back to your desks!"

I followed the noise into the main office.

There stood Rachel in the middle of the cubicles, hands on her hips, glaring down at the employees.

She acted like she owned the place.

In my past life, she did the exact same thing. After swapping the amulet, she practically declared herself the lady of the house, bossing everyone around.

If anyone dared to displease her, she would fire them on the spot.

Her behavior had caused an uproar, and some employees were already confronting her.

"You're just Mr. Sterling’s secretary! What right do you have to fire us?"

"Do you seriously think you're the boss of Sterling Corp? Our two-hour lunch break is in our contracts! You can't just cancel it!"

Watching the drama unfold, I frowned and spoke up softly. "Rachel, if there's an issue, let's wait until Ethan gets back."

"According to company policy, you've definitely crossed the line."

But to my surprise, in my past life, when Ethan returned from his meeting, he didn't punish Rachel at all.

Instead, he announced to the entire office, "From now on, her word is my word."

"If anyone in Sterling Corp dares to defy Rachel, they can go to HR, grab their paycheck, and get out."

In my past life, though I found Ethan's behavior bizarre, I assumed he just highly valued her work capability.

I had no idea that from that very moment, the emotional transfer spell Rachel had placed on me had already taken effect.

Ethan protected her like that because his love for me had been completely transferred to her.

But in this life, without the spell working, Rachel's arrogant behavior was nothing short of career suicide.
