The quarterly sales rankings were posted.

I closed a $50 million commercial deal, ranking number one in the entire company.

Yet, my name wasn't on the "Employee of the Quarter" list.

The person who got the title was Tyler, the nephew of our branch manager, Richard Sterling.

Just last month, Tyler messed up the square footage on three different client contracts, almost landing us in a massive lawsuit.

Richard called me into the breakroom.

"Ethan, a good broker shouldn't just focus on the money."

"That client was actually Tyler's lead first. It's only fair the commission goes to him."

Meanwhile, Tyler was casually sitting at my desk, taking pictures of my client roster with his phone.

"Don't sweat it, Ethan. Next time you close a big one, just leave some crumbs for me."

Richard slammed his hand on the table. "If you don't like it, leave. We aren't short of smooth talkers here."

I ripped off my ID badge and threw it onto the reception desk.

"Fine. I quit."

Richard sneered behind me. "Without this firm, you won't even be able to rent out a doghouse."

I walked out and dialed a number that had never once rung during my three years at this company.

"Dad, I've finished auditing the East Coast branch's books. I have three years of evidence right here. Tell the corporate audit team they can move in."
