Abstract
On Mother's Day, my husband did something completely out of character. He handed me a crisp hundred-dollar bill.
"It is Mother's Day," he said. "Go buy a gift for my mom."
I thought he had finally learned to be grateful. I thought he realized how much my parents had sacrificed for us.
But before I could even say a word of thanks, he kept going.
"My mom saw a gold cuff she likes. Go pick it up today. Don't keep her waiting."
