Beneath the White Coat

During a routine inspection at St. Jude Medical Center, I went to the cafeteria for lunch. After picking up an extra meal for my sister Clara, who interns there, I overheard whispers as I walked toward a quiet corner. Someone recognized Dr. Norris from Dental and wondered about the new person sitting with her.

Before I could react, a furious young doctor rushed over and punched me in the face. "Who do you think you are, pretty boy? Trying to flirt with my girl?" he yelled.

My sister panicked, grabbing his arm. "Jacob, stop! It's not what it looks like!"
